DevOps Manager / Technical Lead (Azure)

About the Role
We’re looking for a hybrid DevOps Manager / Technical Lead to guide our growing infrastructure and engineering operations. This role leans heavily toward technical leadership—remaining hands-on with architecture, automation, and cloud operations—while also mentoring and managing a small team. You’ll drive best practices, champion reliability, and help scale our systems in Microsoft Azure.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead & Manage: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to DevOps engineers, while balancing people management responsibilities.
  • Hands-On Contribution: Remain actively involved in designing, implementing, and troubleshooting Azure infrastructure and automation.
  • Cloud Architecture: Architect scalable, secure, and cost-efficient solutions in Azure (networking, compute, storage, databases, monitoring).
  • Automation & Tooling: Build CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (Terraform, Bicep, or ARM), and automation frameworks.
  • Reliability & Performance: Drive observability, incident response, monitoring, and SRE practices to ensure system resilience.
  • Collaboration: Partner closely with software engineering teams to improve deployment workflows, release processes, and system reliability.
  • Strategy: Define DevOps best practices and roadmap, helping align technical investments with business goals.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience as a DevOps Lead, Tech Lead, or Manager, ideally in a fast-paced engineering environment.
  • Strong hands-on expertise in Azure cloud services (AKS, App Services, Azure Functions, VNets, AAD, etc.).
  • Deep experience with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar).
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates).
  • Knowledge of containers & orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and observability tools (Azure Monitor, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/EFK).
  • Strong scripting skills (PowerShell, Bash, or Python).
  • Experience balancing people management and technical leadership—mentoring engineers, running standups, performance feedback.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across product, engineering, and operations teams.
  • 7 years relvant experience to include leadership
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience, OR Associates degree in a technical field, OR certification in relevant focus area.

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to security, compliance, and governance in Azure (identity, policies, RBAC).
  • Background in SRE practices (SLAs, SLIs, SLOs).
  • Prior experience in scaling teams or hiring engineers.
