PetPlace, a subsidiary of IPH, is building a digital first pet e-commerce platform with the aim of connecting key market services such as adoption, lost pet and insurance to make pet care easy.

Job Summary:

PetPlace is seeking a Director of Digital Marketing who will report to the VP, Marketing of PetPlace. As a leader of the PetPlace Marketing team, you will be responsible for creating growth and retention efforts across CRM and paid media, driving new channel expansion, and leading our marketing analytics team, all to support the growth of our key initiatives.

You will have a strong understanding of paid, owned, and earned ecosystems, and know how to leverage first party data to create personalized experiences across consumer touchpoints while providing value throughout the conversion journey to increase consumer engagement. Your goal will be to forge relationships with our audience across the right mix of channels and gather data, insights and consumer feedback to constantly improve performance.

Main Responsibilities: ​

  • Set marketing objectives for your team to meet business revenue forecasts and execute on strategic initiatives.

  • Manage and execute against digital marketing budget, ensuring the spend is allocated to activities to achieve targeted return.

  • Develop and strategically support the Marketing Tech Stack to deliver on PetPlace initiatives inclusive of CRM and Data Management tools, CRO, Adobe Experience Manager, and Salesforce Marketing Cloud or similar marketing technologies.

  • Lead a data-driven team that develops, manages, and tracks metrics and success criteria for all marketing and customer retention and acquisition programs, including creating and maintaining performance reports and dashboards and sharing insights with key stakeholders on a regular cadence.

  • Ability to analyze customer data using database queries (SQL), spreadsheet (Excel) models, web analytics tools (Google Analytics, PowerBI, etc.), data warehouses and campaign management software tools, while supporting continued improvement of channel attribution capabilities and reporting.

  • Have a strong understanding of legal requirements for both email and SMS consent and can help the team navigate through meeting those requirements, including CAN-SPAM, CCPA, and GDPR regulations.

  • Assess trends, competitor actions, and technological advances in direct marketing products, services, and communications. Evaluate emerging technologies and provide leadership and perspective for adoption where appropriate.

  • Act as a brand steward, ensuring all messaging and creative aligns to corporate and PetPlace branding guidelines and positioning.

  • Drive a data-driven culture of innovation and testing to produce better outcomes across our channels and inspire our team to collaborative and think beyond our current capabilities.

  • Effectively manage internal cross-functional relationships, and external agency relationships (as required).

  • Implement processes to effectively manage digital marketing team workload, cross-functional relationships, and external agency relationships to ensure coordination that leads to greater success and results.

  • Lead a team of 3 full time employees, contractors and agencies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or relevant field

  • Proven experience with over 10 years in marketing roles, with a track record of success in developing and executing digital marketing initiatives

  • At least 5 years of experience managing email marketing campaigns. Salesforce or similar ESP experience strongly recommended.

  • Track record in leading growth in direct-to-consumer markets

  • Demonstrable experience designing and implementing successful personalized marketing programs

  • Strong leadership skills and ability to motivate and partner with cross-functional teams

  • Solid knowledge of digital marketing fundamentals such as AdWords, GA, CRM journey mapping

  • Excellent communications skills

  • Strong analytical and project management skills

  • Strategic mindset, with ability to make difficult decisions

  • Experience in pet industry is a strong asset
