JOB DESCRIPTION
Since 2022, Nom Nom has expanded from its direct-to-consumer roots and launched partnerships with PetSmart, Chewy, and Amazon. With a robust plan for growth, we are seeking a Sales Manager to help lead and execute our retail expansion. This role works closely with Celia, VP Sales Operations, to execute the sales growth strategy, with responsibility for translating broader strategy into effective account plans. The role is execution-led, with accountability for delivering results in-market, but also provides strategic input through customer insights, joint business planning, and performance analysis. Success in this role requires strong financial acumen, cross-functional leadership, and the ability to drive results in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. The Sales Manager will play a critical role in owning key retail relationships, expanding distribution, and shaping future channel strategy.
WHAT WILL BE YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES?
- Work closely with VP to execute the sales growth strategy, providing seamless day-to-day leadership to enable organizational focus on higher-level strategic priorities while providing insights to inform the ongoing evolution of the Sales strategy at Nom Nom.
- Own and manage direct relationships with key retail partners, starting with PetSmart, Chewy, and Amazon.
- Partner with VP to identify and prioritize new opportunities and develop distribution in new channels (grocery, mass, pet specialty, etc.); determine the right doors and channel mix in partnership with leadership and consultants.
- Build strong customer partnerships and open new retail accounts across priority channels.
- Lead forecasting, planning, and analysis for assigned accounts, identifying opportunities to drive incremental sales and margin.
- Develop and maintain account-level scorecards, performance reviews, and reporting on sales, retention, and growth opportunities.
- Refine and implement MAP policies and trade promotions, measuring and optimizing performance over time.
- Monitor market and customer trends and translate insights into actionable recommendations.
- Develop medium- to long-range sales plans to protect, grow, and diversify customer relationships.
- Partner closely with the CMO and marketing team to align brand messaging, shopper marketing, and retail initiatives.
- Serve as a driving force for channel-specific innovation and cross-functional execution.
- Travel as needed to maintain customer relationships, attend trade shows, develop category knowledge, and be present at Nom Nom HQ (Nashville, TN) - up to 40% travel may be required.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
- Proven experience building or scaling a sales function within a CPG environment; entrepreneurial mindset required.
- Hands-on operator comfortable working in lean, high-growth organizations without heavy infrastructure.
- 5-8+ years of experience in customer development, sales, or account management; pet, frozen, or similar CPG experience preferred.
- Strong retailer relationship management experience with a comparable retail and e-commerce mix.
- Sales-savvy and analytically capable, able to independently manage forecasting and performance insights and operate with a data-driven mindset.
- Comfortable with ambiguity, self-motivated, and highly accountable.
- Highly relationship-oriented and trusted as a right-hand partner to senior leadership.
