Job Profile Summary

Performs statistical modeling and analysis of structured and unstructured datasets to develop metrics, reports, curated datasets, and visualizations of trends and patterns. Partners with stakeholders to define dataset requirements and deliver actionable insights that support Pets Best’s mission to help pets live long, happy, and healthy lives.

Job Description

  • Collaborates with stakeholders to understand and define business requirements for operational and analytical reports.
  • Defines and curates dataset requirements to support analytics, dashboards, and self-service reporting.
  • Collects, analyzes, and interprets data from multiple sources to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
  • Performs data cleansing, validation, and documents data definitions. Establishes business rules and quality checks to ensure accuracy and reliability of reports.
  • Designs, develops, and maintains interactive dashboards, visualizations, and reports using business intelligence tools.
  • Uses analytics and metrics to improve processes and provide data-driven forecasts of potential costs, risks, and profiles of new business initiatives.
  • Queries and manipulates data using SQL to extract, transform, and aggregate data from databases.
  • Leverages Python (and other scripting tools) for advanced analysis, automation, and statistical modeling.
  • Builds and maintains dbt models to ensure scalable, documented, and version-controlled data transformations.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to support ad-hoc data analysis requests.
  • Presents findings and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
  • Provides guidance and mentorship to junior members of the data analysis team, fostering professional growth and adoption of best practices.
  • Stays up to date with industry best practices, emerging technologies, and trends in data analysis.
  • Ensures data integrity, accuracy, and compliance with data privacy regulations through robust data governance practices.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Experience:

  • Minimum 6 years’ relevant experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or related field.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent work experience). A Master’s degree is a plus.

  • Ensures data integrity, accuracy, and compliance with data privacy regulations through robust data governance practices
  • Provides guidance and mentorship to junior members of the data analysis teams, fostering their professional growth

Accountability/Complexity:

  • May manage projects requiring the responsibility of delegation of work and review of resulting work product
  • Works independently under limited supervision
  • May be responsible for providing guidance, coaching, and/or training to other employees within job area
  • May function as a team lead and/or assistant to the supervisor/manager

Tools & Skills (Preferred)

  • Languages: SQL, Python (R a plus).
  • Data Modeling/ETL: dbt (preferred), Alteryx, Airflow, or similar.
  • Databases/Warehouses: Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, Oracle, SQL Server, or similar.
  • Visualization & BI Tools: Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or equivalent.
  • Collaboration & Version Control: Git/GitHub.
  • Other Skills: Strong business acumen, data governance, statistical modeling, stakeholder communication, and data storytelling.
